How Web3 Changes our Everyday Life
🎣 w3.catch-of-the-week cw4
GMGM and welcome to the 🎣 w3.catch-of-the-week, your go-to place for all things Web3, where we dig into use cases that are more valuable than a freshly mined Bitcoin.
This week, we're turning our attention to a monumental chapter in the crypto world 🥁: Mt. Gox's Bitcoin repayments.
👉 After nearly a decade, victims of the notorious 2014 hack, which led to a loss of 850,000 BTC (currently worth over $3 billion 👀), are inching closer to closure.
Emails requesting identity confirmation and account details have started arriving, indicating the start of repayments in Bitcoin.
This development is a crucial step in the history of cryptocurrency. But now enough Bitcoin bytes, let's move on to some blockchain applications with real-world impact.
In todays episode you’ll learn 🤓:

🕹 Voya Games - The Future of Gaming
Next up we’ve got something for all gamers among us - Ever thought about how cool it would be if owning in-game assets feel as real as the clothes in your wardrobe? That's where Voya Games steps in, blending the thrill of gaming with some serious economics, powered by the Blockchain.
First we need to understand the current challenges of the gaming industry👇
Behind the Code 🎮
Voya isn't playing around – led by serial entrepreneur Oliver Löffler. With a track record of success, the team recently delivered an impressive pitch at our open house day and provided valuable insights for our w3.hub community.
What's the Deal with Voya Games? 🎲
Voya's strategy is to embed real economic principles within the game environment, focusing on player engagement and the longevity of the gaming experience.
They're setting up a space where the virtual economy is powered by the players, for the players, with a self-sustaining model that could redefine what it means to play a game.
Angry Dynomites Lab Unleashed 🦖
The first proof of concept is already live and is called Angry Dynomites, a mobile game in which players can craft, train and conquer.
It's a fully on-chain game where your decisions are not just in-game strategies but moves that can influence the game's economy and your progress within it.
💅 I have personally tested the game, and here's the scoop: it's accessible, right now, on iOS and Android stores, and you can jump in without needing any NFTs to start.
FYI: The game is still in “Early Access” mode and therefore only available in Germany & the US.
Your Move 🕹️
Feel the rush of Angry Dynomites Lab and get a firsthand experience here.
Want to see where the magic happens? Come and join us at the next Open House Day at w3.hub, meet the Voya Games team, and connect with like-minded gamers and creators. Let's game on!✨🦖
💫 Disney introduces new VR Playground
In the fast lane of technology, where virtual and augmented realities are the new playgrounds and the Apple Vision Pro is just around the corner, there's something new: The Disney HoloTile
👉 This isn't just another VR gadget; it's a game-changer, quite literally.
Here's the lowdown:
The Problem: Traditional VR can feel like you're sitting in a chair with a view. Or you run into your TV with VR glasses because you think that's the finish line.
👉 HoloTile changes this by syncing your real-life steps with your virtual ones. You walk, it walks.
What it actually is: It's a platform with a bunch tiles that move under your feet, letting you wander around in VR without ever hitting the edge.
Here’s why it’s cool:
Walk any direction: You’re no longer stuck on a straight path. Want to backtrack or sidestep in a game? Just do it.
Stay on the square: The tiles keep you centered, so you won’t crash into your furniture.
Group VR without the bump: Multiple people can use it at once, each in their own virtual bubble, without colliding in the real world.
It's still in the works, but it's shaping up to be a nice add-on for virtual activities. How do you feel about it?
🗣 How Web3 is Changing Communication
In today's digital age, platforms like Discord have become central hubs for online communication, connecting millions across the globe. While these Web2 platforms offer unprecedented connectivity, they're not without their flaws.
Main issues are:
data ownership
privacy concerns
lack of interoperability
We sign up, agree to pages of T&C’s (that no one really reads), and just hope for the best when it comes to privacy and data ownership.
But with the proper use of Web3 technologies, these problems can likely be solved:
Unbreakable encryption: Imagine a chat where nobody but you and your friend can take a look. That's the promise of true end-to-end encryption.
You are in control, not the platform: Web3 makes you the owner of your data.
Your key to Web3: Your wallet will be your all-access pass, your storage and also your digital identity (Think of it as the email of Web3; but with more features).
Interoperability: With your wallet, you can take your data with you wherever you go and seamlessly transfer information from one platform to the next.
In my opinion Web3 will change how we connect, share, and grow our digital lives, all while keeping control where it belongs – with us!
🤩 Your User-Generated Content
😍 I see more and more User-Generated Content (short “UGC”) about us on LinkedIn, Instagram and X. For me, this signifies two things:
💚 All of you who are coming to the w3.hub for any type of events or just co-working feel comfortable and happy.
🏆 It's simply fantastic marketing. Sure, it's always great to ask people to actively support your project, but it's even cooler when you don't have to ask at all.
We feel honoured shoutout to all of you 🥂.
Shoutout to Egor (part of the w3.hub community) for presenting what he is working on
✨ Who doesn’t love dem great collabs? ✨
We have something very special to announce:

From now on Superteam members get a 15% discount on Flex Desks for the first 3 months
Here is how it works:
📝 In the section titled 'What company do you work for?', please add 'Superteam Member' next to your current company.
🎖️ Show your Superteam NFT to me (aka Vicky) during the onboarding.
Not a Superteam Member yet? Check out their website.
I love Web3 humor.
Vicky & Marvin are Web3-obsessed. That's why they host a weekly podcast featuring updates and cool stuff.
Don't miss out on any news, updates, & vibes anymore. Discord is so yesterday. Let's meet on Telegram.
