Prediction Markets are Everywhere

One Web3 use case that has made it onto American television is prediction markets:

The TVL (Total Value Locked) in prediction markets only knew one way in 2024: Up!

The media company Dastan, which is behind Decrypt and RugRadio, introduced its own Prediction Market Myriad this week.

To keep users engaged beyond betting, there are also quests. These include reading articles, watching videos and completing quizzes.

Users can access MYRIAD via a browser extension, a mobile app and a website. You can register here to become a beta tester for the platform:

It will be interesting to see whether anyone can unseat Polymarket in the coming months.

As you can see here, the initial hype surrounding competitor Drift didn't last long.

Summer is Over - What’s next?

Not only has summer come to an end in Berlin, but also Base's Onchain Summer.

The event lasted three months. It was big. Many people joined in. Builders made cool things. Artists shared their work. Gamers played new games.

Here are the highlights:

Over 2 million wallets took part. This was 8 times more than last year. People made 24 million new digital items. Creators earned over $5 million.

Part of this was the launch of DoodlesTV. Fans get the earliest access to new music and can collect limited edition collectibles of their favorite artists.

A new short movie (Dullsville & Doodleverse) has already come out today. Sit back and watch DoodlesTV here.

The Buildathon was the largest onchain hackathon to date. By the numbers:

Another Bridge

$58 million in funding from Coinbase & Square, among others, has been received by the startup Bridge. For a new payment platform based on Stablecoins.

Bridge aims to simplify global money movements by using Stablecoins as dollar-backed digital currencies. It provides a solution to local currency problems in unstable economies.

Why Bridge can become the bridge (lol) for many companies:

  • Enables access to global products and services

  • Provides APIs for easy conversion between dollar formats

  • Enables companies to issue their own Stablecoins

Use cases:

  • Payments for governments and aid organizations

  • Cross-border B2B payments

  • Access to US dollars in developing countries

  • Foreign exchange trading for global companies
